Thermal and atomic effects on coupled-channels heavy-ion fusion

چکیده
Stellar nuclear fusion reactions take place in a hot, dense plasma within stars. To account for the effect of these environments, theory open quantum systems is used to conduct pioneering studies thermal and atomic effects on probability at broad range temperatures densities. Since low-lying excited states are more likely be populated stellar increase interaction rates, 188Os nucleus was as target that interacts with an inert 16O projectile. A program for coupled-channels calculations with all order couplings for heavy-ion fusion reactions
A FORTRAN77 program is presented that calculates fusion cross sections and mean angular momenta of the compound nucleus under the influence of couplings between the relative motion and several nuclear collective motions. The no-Coriolis approximation is employed to reduce the dimension of coupled-channels equations. The program takes into account the effects of non-linear couplings to all order...
متن کاملHeavy Ion Fusion Sources*
In Heavy-Fusion and in other applications, there is a need for high brightness sources with both high current and low emittance. The traditional design with a single monolithic source, while very successful, has significant constraints on it when going to higher currents. With the Child-Langmuir current-density limit, geometric aberration limits, and voltage breakdown limits, the area of the so...
متن کاملThermal effects on atomic friction.
We model friction acting on the tip of an atomic force microscope as it is dragged across a surface at nonzero temperatures. We find that stick-slip motion occurs and that the average frictional force follows (absolute value lnv)(2/3), where v is the tip velocity. This compares well to recent experimental work, permitting the quantitative extraction of all microscopic parameters. We calculate t...
متن کاملPyrethroids and Their Effects on Ion Channels
Ion channels are integral membrane proteins that are critical for neuronal function. They form pores in the plasma membrane that allow certain ions to travel with their concentration gradient across the membrane. Those that open in response to a change in membrane potential are called voltage-gated ion channels. Channels that open in response to binding by a chemical signal or molecule are liga...
متن کاملOverview of the Heavy Ion Fusion Program
The world Heavy Ion Fusion (HIF) Program for inertial fusion energy is looking toward the development and commissioning of several new experiments. Recent and planned upgrades of the facilities at GSI, in Russia, and in Japan greatly enhance the ability to study energy deposition in hot dense matter. Worldwide target design developments have focused on non-ignition targets for nearterm experime...
